How Oxford Edexcel Tutor Began
Oxford Edexcel Tutor was founded with one clear mission — to make expert, high-quality IGCSE, A-Level and IB tuition accessible to every student across the UK and Gulf region, regardless of where they live.
We saw a consistent problem: students at top British-curriculum schools in Dubai, Riyadh, Kuwait City, Doha and Muscat were struggling to find specialist tutors who truly understood their exact exam board, syllabus and marking scheme. Generic tutors were not enough. Students needed specialists who could teach Cambridge 0580 Maths differently from Edexcel Maths — because the papers, mark schemes and exam styles are genuinely different.
So we built a network of carefully selected, thoroughly vetted specialist tutors — each one an expert in a specific board and subject — and made them available to students via live online sessions at times that work in Gulf and UK time zones.

Every tutor is vetted through a rigorous interview and trial teaching process before joining our network. We do not use generic tutors — every tutor is a specialist in Cambridge, Edexcel, AQA or IB for their specific subject.
How are tutors matched to students?

When you book, we ask for your exam board, subject, syllabus code, current grade and target grade. We then match you with the tutor in our network who specialises in exactly that board and subject. For example, a Cambridge 9702 Physics student in Dubai will be matched with a tutor who specifically teaches Cambridge International A-Level Physics — not a generic Physics tutor. We never assign the wrong specialist.
Which countries and time zones do you serve?

We serve students in the United Kingdom (GMT/BST), UAE (GST/UTC+4), Saudi Arabia (AST/UTC+3), Kuwait (AST/UTC+3), Qatar (AST/UTC+3) and Oman (GMT+4). Sessions are available 7 days a week from 7am to 10pm in each local time zone. We never ask Gulf students to attend sessions at inconvenient UK times — all scheduling is done in the student's local time zone.
What technology do you use for sessions?

Sessions are conducted via Zoom with a shared digital whiteboard (Jamboard or GoodNotes). Tutors share their screen, write equations and diagrams in real time, annotate past papers and walk through mark schemes live. Sessions are recorded and shared with the student to review afterwards. No special software to install — just a device with Zoom and a stable internet connection.
How quickly will my child's grades improve?

Most students notice a clear improvement in confidence and exam technique within 4–6 sessions. Grade improvement typically shows in mock exams within 8–10 weeks of consistent weekly sessions. Students who begin 3–6 months before their exams and commit to 1–2 sessions per week consistently achieve A or A* grades.
